ISLAMABAD, Jan 16: The Pakistan People's Party on Tuesday sought to remove misunderstandings with the Pakistan Muslim League-N on the issue of holding a multi-party conference (MPC) in London.

A four-member delegation led by PPP president Makhdoom Amin Fahim met PML-N chairman Raja Zafarul Haq and explained party's reservations on the participation of PPP chairperson Benazir Bhutto in the proposed MPC, sources told Dawn.

Other members of the PPP delegation include opposition leader in the senate Mian Raza Rabbani, party’s secretary-general Raja Pervez Ashraf and Senator Dr Safdar Abbasi.

The sources said the PPP leaders expressed their concern over Mr Sharif’s move to convene the MPC without taking their party into confidence. The leaders of the two parties decided to meet again on Thursday to iron out differences on the issue.

The PPP has already convened the CEC meeting in Islamabad on January 20 for this purpose. The sources said there was a possibility that the party might not boycott the MPC and send its representatives to present party's viewpoint.

Talking to Dawn, PML-N leader Ahsan Iqbal expressed the hope that Ms Bhutto would participate in the MPC.
