HYDERABAD, Feb 8: Police have held another member of the gang allegedly involved in the kidnapping and murder of Greesh Kumar whose remains were found in an abandoned house in Sachal Sarmast Colony after a police operation on Wednesday, sources in police said on Thursday.

The sources said that the police arrested in Kunri the father of Sohail who had so far eluded arrest and was considered to be the most important figure in the gang. But another source claimed that Sohail himself had been caught but his arrest had not been disclosed officially.

The Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) Judge Syed Ali Ashraf Shah and a judicial magistrate of Kotri on Thursday remanded Khadim Hussain Minhas and his son Shahid Minhas arrested in police operation a day ago for seven days in police custody in three separate cases.

Police produced the father and son under tight security before the judges. "We would incorporate section 302 PPC in previous FIR of kidnapping after DNA test," said a police source.

Kotri police have lodged three separate cases vide FIR No 26/07 under sections 324, 353, 147, 148, 149 PPC and 6/7 of Anti-Terrorism Act 1997 against Shahid, his father Khadim Hussain Minhas and three others including Tahir Minhas, Sohail and Javed Ansari on the complaint of Inspector Shahjehan Lashari. Two cases under sections 13-D of Arms Ordinance were also lodged against them at Kotri police station.

"We are also looking for Rashid, the Mutawalli of Darul Huda Tahfeezul Quran, who is also involved in the case," said a police source. Rashid, a resident of 7-C unit no-7 Latifabad, was also involved, he said.

Police had officially disclosed the arrest of only the father and son while they had also Tahir and Javed Ansari in custody. Police had nabbed Javed while he was going to Karachi in a bus and found Asghar in the abandoned house, he said.

"Tahir, Asghar, Javed and Sohail were the four persons who had kidnapped Greesh Kumar from his flat in Ameer Terrace in Hirabad," said the police source.

The sources said that an elite intelligence agency was also trying to interrogate Tahir, Sohail, and Javed but they had not so far been handed over to the agency men.Police had not disclosed the arrest of Moulvi Mohammad Ali, who was picked up from the religious seminary in Sachal Sarmast Colony. Jamiat-i-Ahl-i-Hadith Ameer Dr. Qurban Ali Sheikh said that Mr Ali was not released till Thursday evening.

He denied any links of the seminary with banned militant outfit, Harkatul Mujahideen and claimed that in reality Khadim Hussain Minhas belonged to Jamaat-i-Islami while his son had started following the teachings of Ahl-i-Hadith sect.

A medical board formed on Wednesday night conducted post-mortem of the remains but its report would be issued after findings of chemical examination.
