LAHORE, Feb 22: Karachi Urban emerged as the new champions of the Quaid-i-Azam Trophy Gold League, dethroning Sialkot after completing an eight-wicket win in the final at Multan Stadium on Thursday.

Karachi Urban, who had enforced a follow-on on Sialkot, bowled them out for 288 in the second innings to get a victory target of just 69. The winners then achieved the target for the loss of two wickets in 12.3 overs.

Earlier, Sialkot resumed the second innings at overnight score of 175-3 but managed to add only 113 runs while losing the remaining seven wickets.

Atiq-ur-Rehman (70, six fours), Shahid Yousuf (70, nine fours, two sixes) and Khalid Mahmood (58, three fours, two sixes) put up good resistance for Sialkot but it was not enough to save them from defeat.

Off-spinner Tahir Khan, who was also declared as best bowler and fielder of the trophy with 36 wickets and 16 catches, took three wickets in the second innings.

The winners pocketed Rs 600,000 as cash prize while Sialkot received Rs 300,000. Babar Naeem of Rawalpindi region was declared as best batsman of the trophy for scoring 607 runs. Zulifqar Jan of Peshawar Region earned the title of best wicketkeeper with 21 catches and one stumping.

Karachi Urban's skipper Hasan Raza was declared as Man-of-the-Final.

All the top individuals were honoured with a cash prize of Rs 40,000 each.
