KARACHI, Feb 26: A scintillating unbeaten century by Khalid Latif inspired Karachi Dolphins to a crushing seven-wicket victory over Karachi Zebras in the first match of ABN-Amro One-day Gold League Cup at the UBL Sports Complex here on Monday.

Khalid hammered 101 off 135 deliveries as the Dolphins made light work of their target of 204. The former Pakistan Under-19 skipper struck three sixes and five fours during his brilliant display.

Wajihuddin was also in good form as he made 54, which included seven boundaries, while putting on 98 for the opening wicket with Khalid.

Earlier, the Zebras were restricted to 203 for nine in their quota of 50 overs after electing to bat first.

The mainstay for them was Saeed bin Nasir, who made an excellent 84. The experienced right-handed batsman hit seven fours and one six in his 132-ball innings before falling to Fawwad Alam.

Off-spinner Arif Maqbool snared three wickets – including the vital scalps of Zebras’ skipper Hasan Raza (1) and Faisal Iqbal (7) – for 38 runs in 10 overs. Slow left-armers Adnan Malik and Fawwad chipped in with two wickets apiece. Khalid Latif also excelled in the field with three catches.
