7 gunned down in Talagang

CHAKWAL, Feb 26: Seven persons were gunned down and four others injured in an ambush near Pachnand town of Talagang Tehsil, 80 kilometres from here on Monday.

According to police sources, over a dozen assailants opened indiscriminate fire on their rivals belonging to Mehmud family with sophisticated weapons outside the Pachnand village in the jurisdiction of the Lowa police station killing Gohar Khan, Nasir Khan, Mohammad Yaqoob, Lal Khan, Ilyas Ahmad, Saeed Ahmad and Muhammad Yar and injuring Mehmood, Ejaz, Mohammad Sajid, Mohammad Hanif.

They were going to attend valima of Azmat Jamil, Nazim, Kot Gila Union Council when the assailants opened fire on them outside the Panchand town at 1pm.

The injured and the dead were shifted to the THQ Hospital Talagang and Fauji Foundation Hospital Danda Shah Balwal.

The Lova Police Station SHO, Mudassar Butt, and Deputy Superintendent of Talagang Nisar Kazim reached the site of the incident. On seeing the police the culprits fled resorting to fire in the air.

The Chakwal Saddar police have registered a case against 22 persons belonging to Malha Group but no arrests were made till filing of this report.
