HYDERABAD, Feb 27: Member, Sales Tax, Central Board of Revenue, Musarrat Jabeen, has said that the CBR is extending facilities to the tax-payers to promote tax culture as without taxes, the affairs of the state cannot be managed.
Speaking at the Hyderabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry on Tuesday, She said that manufacturing sector was the largest tax payer in the country as it provided bulk of revenue to the national kitty. She added that time had come to enlarge the tax net to provide some relief to the manufacturing sector.
She said that interaction between the tax-payers and tax collectors always produced positive results as it removed misunderstandings.
She pointed out that even in the developed countries, fruits of taxation reforms did not appear overnight, therefore, the CBR had taken cautious steps in the field of registration of tax-payers.
Ms Jabeen said that automation of tax recovery system would save a lot of precious time. She held out an assurance that the working of the regional tax office would be streamlined and suggested regular monthly meetings between the tax office and the chamber to remove bottlenecks.
