RIYADH, Feb 27: Saudi King Abdullah on Tuesday said the fatal shooting of four Frenchmen was an act of terrorism.

“Whoever carried out this terrorist act against innocent people will not escape justice,” the state-owned Saudi Press Agency quoted Mr Abdullah as saying.

Mr Abdullah made these comments in a telephonic conversation with France's President Jacques Chirac, the agency reported.

The death toll in Monday’s attack rose to four after the 17-year-old died of his injuries at the King Fahd Hospital in Madinah.

Among the dead were two expatriate employees of an electric manufacture company and one was a teacher at a French school.

The Saudi interior ministry said it was investigating into the assault.
