An isolated attack: US

Published February 28, 2007

WASHINGTON, Feb 27: The White House said on Tuesday that a Taliban attack on a military base where US Vice-President Dick Cheney was staying does not say ‘anything’ about the strength of the militia.

At a briefing at the White House, Press Secretary Tony Snow acknowledged it was ‘very difficult’ to stop a person “who wants to kill himself” while committing an act of violence.

But he said it was an isolated attack which did not say anything about the Taliban militia or its strength in Afghanistan.

Mr Snow said he did not know if publicity over Mr Cheney’s overnight stay helped invite the attack.
