KAMYSHEVATSKAYA (Russia), March 20: A fire swept through a nursing home in southern Russia on Tuesday, killing 62 people.
Authorities said the toll was inflated by safety violations, toxic materials, negligence and the long distance from the nearest fire station.
A night watchman ignored two fire alarms before reporting the blaze and it took firefighters almost an hour to get from a larger town to the nursing home in Kamyshevatskaya.—AP
