KARACHI: Teachers’ vital role acknowledged


KARACHI, April 15: Teachers are the pillars of the education system and the government is not only pumping massive funds into this sector but also taking steps for teachers’ training.

This was stated by Minister of State for Education Senator Anisa Zeb Tahirkheli while speaking as chief guest at the Fourth KFC Teachers Convention held here on Saturday night. More than 500 teachers from various schools, colleges and other educational institutions attended the convention.

Appreciated the organisers’ efforts towards getting teachers’ services in the realms of education acknowledged, she said that the government was taking every step for a better education system and was imparting training to teachers with a view to bring about the required improvement in this vital sector.

Ms Tahirkheli pointed out that attention was also being paid to establish resource centres across the country for the purpose.

Chief Executive of the sponsor group Rafiq Rangoonwala also spoke on the occasion.

At the convention, awards were given away to the teachers who have rendered valuable services to the education sector. The awards were categorised as lifetime achiever, community service, lifetime excellence, leadership excellence, service excellence and outstanding excellence.

The winners were selected by a panel of judges comprising Danishmend, Ms Mariam Farooqui, Ms Zubeida Dossal and Abbas Hussain.—APP
