KARACHI: Rs3 billion being spent on uplift, says nazim

KARACHI, April 15: City Nazim Syed Mustafa Kamal has said that the city government is spending over Rs3 billion through towns, union councils and elected representatives to resolve citizen’s basic problems.

He was talking to MPAs Builqees Mukhtar and Khalid Bin Vilayat in his office. DCO Fazlur Rehman, EDO health Dr A.D. Sajnani and EDO Works & Services Amanullah Chachar were also present on the occasion.

Mr Kamal said that the CDGK was modifying city infrastructure by constructing roads and signal-free corridors of international standards, besides laying new water and sewerage lines. He said that development works were executed rapidly in the areas as the city government has provided Rs50 million to each town from its own fund for the massive development. Every union council has also been given Rs9.6 million and each councilor Rs1.5 million for works in their respective areas.

The MPAs apprised the city nazim of the problems being faced by residents of their constituencies.

The city nazim reiterated the Haq Parast leadership’s desire to solve the problems all citizens and to turn Karachi into one of the most modern and beautiful cities of the world. “We can solve the problems only with collective efforts,” he added.—PPI
