By Arman Sabir

KARACHI, April 15: Millions of rupees worth mobile phones and other accessories were stolen from nine shops in a burglary at Electronics Market in Saddar on Sunday morning.

Besides, forty two people were robbed of their cellular phones and nine others were deprived of their vehicles on Sunday in various areas of the metropolis.

A watchman, Mohammad Qasim, and two guards of a private security firm Mubarak Ali and Sher Ali were deployed to safeguard the shops, dealing in cellular phones and accessories, in Ilahi Centre near Regal Chowk. On Sunday morning, Mubarak and Sher were found unconscious and the locks of nine shops were replaced with new ones.

Both guards were later shifted to the hospital and police called the shop owners, who reached at their shops and found cellphones and accessories missing.

Police suspected that Qasim, who had been missing since early Sunday morning, was involved in the robbery. They believed Qasim gave some tranquiliser to the security guards and later along with his accomplices looted the shops.

Police registered a case and started search for the missing watchman.

Meanwhile, 19 people were deprived of the cellphones at gunpoint at various places and 23 other complained to the police that their mobile phones were stolen. Similarly, a car and two motorcycles were snatched at gunpoint and three cars and three motorcycles were stolen.
