KARACHI, April 25: Sindh Education Department would award Rs15million scholarships to 176 deserving and brilliant students of business administration, information technology and medical disciplines this year, said Sindh Education and Literacy Minister Dr Hamida Khuhro while chairing a meeting of Board of Trustees for Endowments Funds Scholarship Year 2007.

Dr Khuhro said deserving students of the best alma maters of Sindh, including Sindh University Jamshoro; Aga Khan Medical University; IBA Karachi and Sukkur campuses; SZABIST Karachi and Larkana campuses; Isra University; Institute of Business Management and FAST Karachi would be given scholarship to help them complete their education.She said the students, who wanted to get education at the best institutes of Punjab and the NWFP but lack resources, would also be provided scholarship under the programme.

The minister urged board members to implement quota for rural and urban areas and ensure merit at all levels. The meeting was attended by Sindh Education Secretary Sabhago Khan Jatoi, Isra University Vice Chancellor Dr Asadullah Qazi, IBA Director Danishmand and Additional Secretary Endowments Fatima Bukhari.—PPI
