SUKKUR, April 25: The Sukkur bench of the Sindh High Court (SHC) on Wednesday ordered the government to recruit faculty and other staff by July 25 for the Ghulam Mohammad Mahar Medical College as per requirement of the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC).

The double bench of Justice Nadeem Azhar Siddiqui and Justice Zia Pervez passed the order on a constitutional petition filed by Saeed Jahan and Ilyas alias Lala Arshad requesting the court to ask the government to appoint teaching staff at the medical college as the Supreme Court of Pakistan had directed to close down all the medical colleges that lacked facilities including teaching staff as per PMDC benchmarks.

Advocate Shabbir Shar and Advocate Imtiaz Soomro represented the petitioner while the Sindh government was represented by Additional Advocate General Ghulam Dastagir.—PPI
