LAHORE, April 25: The Pakistan Cricket Board has released pacer Shahid Nazir, leg-spinner Mansoor Amjad and middle-order batsman Misbah-ul-Haq from the national training camp owing to their respective commitments at league cricket in England.

A PCB spokesman said on Wednesday that fast bowlers Anwar Ali and Junaid Zia have been included in place of the three players and the number of probables in the camp now stands at 38 instead of the original 39. The camp, which commences at the Gaddafi Stadium from Saturday, is being set up to pick Pakistan team for the three-match series against Sri Lanka in Abu Dhabi next month.

Anwar has played an important role in Karachi Harbour’s victory in the Quaid-i-Azam Trophy Gold League 2006-07, taking 23 wickets at an average of 29.43. Junaid, on the other hand, captured the same number of wickets at an average of 21.73 for Lahore Shalimar which had been relegated to Silver League from Gold.
