BAHAWALPUR, May 1: Cantonment police registered on Tuesday cases under anti-terrorism act against 14 under-trial prisoners for allegedly creating law and order situation on Monday.

The prisoners reportedly protested against police in the judicial lock-up after imposition of restrictions on them to meet their relatives. The restrictions on visitors’ meetings were imposed after the escape of an under-trial prisoner from police custody the other day.

MAY DAY: Two rallies were brought out in connection with May Day here on Tuesday.

The first rally was taken out under the auspices of MQM from Farid Gate. It was led by MNA Syed Akhlaq Abidi.

Later at a press conference, Mr Abidi said the MQM would field its candidates on all seats in Punjab and would also support them financially.

On the occasion, Shia leader Khwaja Murid Husain and former PPP activist Begum Nasrin Lodhi announced their decision to join the MQM.

The second rally was taken out by the Pakistan Seraiki Party (PSP). Led by additional secretary Allama Iqbal Wasim, the rally marched from old press club chowk to Farid Gate.
