ISLAMABAD, May 1: The Capital Territory Administration has decided to seal Constitution Avenue on Wednesday when Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry would appear before the Supreme Juridical Council (SJC).
The decision to this effect was taken during a high level meeting held here to review the security arrangements in Federal Capital. Chief Commissioner Khalid Pervez chaired the meeting. Inspector General Iftikhar Ahmad, Deputy Commissioner Chaudhry Mohammad Ali, Senior Superintendent Police (SSP) Capt. (Retd) Zafar Iqbal, SSP Security Dr Mohammad Naeem, SSP Traffic Dr Sultan Azam, Additional Deputy Commissioner Gen. Ahmad Ali and others high level officers attended the meeting.
The meeting decided that all the routes leading to the Constitutional Avenue would be sealed by erecting barbed wires. No private vehicles would be allowed to enter the avenue. People would be passed through walk gates.
Following the bomb blast in Charsadda, entry and exits points in the city were under tight security, as police vans patrolled the roads and special police pickets were set up at different locations.
However, activists of political parties, lawyer community, civil society organizations and general public would gather in front of the Supreme Court building to stage protest demonstration when Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry would appear before the Supreme Judicial Council (SJC).
