PESHAWAR, May 8: Two alleged criminals wanted in heinous crimes were killed in an encounter in the Larama area, in the jurisdiction of the Khazana police, on Monday night.

Speaking at a press conference, SP Mohammad Karim Khan said police had received information about the presence of criminals in the area.

When the criminals saw the raiding police party, they opened fire. Police retaliated and the exchange of fire continued for about 30 minutes, he said.

He said Izat Khan alias Izatai and Khadim Hussain were killed in the firing and two AK-47 riffles and a pistol were seized.

The police officer said that Izat Khan was wanted by police in nine cases of murder, attempted murder, robbery and other crimes. Khadim Hussain, on the other hand, was wanted in two cases.
