Judicial remand

FAISALABAD, May 8: A court rejected the police request for physical remand of PPP leader Ijaz Virk and sent him on judicial remand on Tuesday.

The People’s Colony police arrested him the other day on the complaint of his widow sister Mrs Iqbal Cheema who alleged that he planned to grab her property worth of millions of rupees on Jaranwala Road. More than 10 people, believed to be the accomplices of Mr Virk, were also arrested by the police.

On the contrary, Ijaz Virk was quoted as saying that a court had granted a stay order in his favour and May 9 was fixed for hearing of the case. Police registered a case on the report of Jahangir Cheema, the nephew of Mr Virk. — Staff Correspondent
