KARACHI: Action against illegal structures ordered
KARACHI, May 19: Sindh Chief Secretary Shakil Durrani has directed the officials concerned to take stern action against those builders, officials and the elements involved in illegal constructions and leases in the city.
He issued these directives while presiding over a meeting at his office on Saturday in which a strategy was devised to take action against all those involved in illegal constructions and other such practices.
It was decided that the chief controller of buildings would take action against illegal constructions as per law.
The meeting reviewed the decision taken in view of the application of Sindh Assembly Deputy Speaker submitted to the chief minister about illegal high rise buildings in Defence View, Phase-II and decided to take action as per law.
The chief secretary said no compromise would be made on any law, including environment and construction rules. He also sought a report from relevant officials for the safety of Chowkandi Graveyard.
Among others, Chief Controller of Buildings Rauf Akhtar Farooqui, Additional Secretary Local Bodies Ali Azhar, Member Chief Minister's Inspection Team Dr Waliullah, Deputy Secretary Implementation and Coordination Naukhez Anwar Siddiqui and Deputy Director Technical Chief Minister’s Inspection Team Nazir Ahmed attended the meeting.—PPI
