KARACHI: PPP rejects ‘propaganda’

By Our Staff Reporter

KARACHI, May 19: Central Information Secretary of the Pakistan People’s Party and MNA Sherry Rehman on Saturday rejected the ‘propaganda’ against her party and said the Muttahida Qaumi Movement was trying to implicate her and her party in the May 12 violence.

She said: “We totally reject the lie and character assassination. On May 12, a big rally of PPP workers was going towards the airport when MQM workers ambushed it at the COD Bridge. My guard suffered a bullet wound and due to heavy firing I could not even get off from my vehicle,” she told Dawn.

Rejecting all allegations, she said PPP workers were killed and wounded as a result of the ambush on Sharea Faisal. “Our rally had been penetrated by MQM workers,” she said.

Denying her links with all those seen using fire arms in the footage compiled by MQM, she said the PPP would hold a press conference on Sunday where video footage exposing MQM workers’ role in the May 12 incidents would be screened.
