Rs1.5bn fraud detected

PESHAWAR, May 19: The directorate-general intelligence and investigation of the Central Board of Revenue has detected cases of alleged embezzlement of Rs1.5 billion by four import and export companies.

“After completion of investigation action will be taken against the culprits,” said additional director of the intelligence and investigation, Qurban Ali while talking to APP.

He said that the companies involved in the fraud misused the facilities provided by the government to increase export through the Torkhem border.

He said that last year export from the Torkhem border was up to $1 billion and the government wanted to double this amount for which a number of facilities were announced for exporters.
