LAHORE, May 19: Four-year-old Nosheen looks set to lift the feature event during the day/night Lahore Summer Meeting at the Racecourse on Sunday. This filly from Bedouin Invader out-of-Shadabi, Nosheen, had virtually made all the running to land a game success in a class IV division II race over 1200 metres on April 15 last. Later she ran second behind the fashionably bred colt, Zanjeer on May 6 carrying a top weight of nine stones four pounds against Zanjeer's eight stones ten pounds, over the 1200 metres distance.

Now she is carrying eight stones 12 pounds and Zanjeer eight stones 10 pounds. The handicap gives an edge to Nosheen because the race distance has been reduced by 200m, from 1200 to 1000 metres which goes in her favour.

The Okara Plate Class IV Division 1 and 11 will be the last race of the six-event card drawn for Sunday's day/night racing.

The bay colt Charismatic, who is perhaps the only progeny of Tora Bora to tarnish the image of his breeding linage, will be on the course to rehabilitate it when contesting in the fifth and supporting event, Okara Plate Class IV division 11 over the sprinting distance of 1000 metres. Charismatic, who had finished third in his previous outing in a show of gait beauty, is expected to restore the lost prestige of Tora Bora 's bloodline?

After him Shim Jim and Richy Dancer are the faster ones over the distance.

Three-year-old bay filly, Mystical, who had registered a fluent victory on April 25 will be on the turf to make it two in-a-row. She is contesting in the fourth race, Sahiwal Plate class V division I over 1000 metres. Don't Follow, Black House and Willhewish will be fighting for the frame.

Mirana Choice, Born To Win and Janu are the form runners in the big field of 16 contesting the third race. On pedigree Araafa is also good but no form yet to attract attention. They should fight it to pick up the spoils. On form and handicap Mirana Choice looks good.

Race-goers should be well aware of the tactics presently being adopted in races where two runners stand equal chance. It just becomes matter of a technical pulling in which one makes way for the other to let him or her to win.

Only the influential people are involved in such tactics. Such unscrupulous elements are fully exposed to the race-goers, who return home reciting “eulogies in their praise.”

In such a situation the absence of Lahore Race Club (LRC) chairman Tariq Aziz is being felt greatly. Mr Tariq Aziz, who seldom attended midweek gymkhana meetings has not been seen at the Summer Meetings because of his preoccupations in Islamabad. Unscrupulous elements are taking full advantage of his absence.

All races will be contested over the sprinting distance of 1000 metres. The first race will be held at 5:00pm.
