HYDERABAD, May 26: Workers and supporters of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) staged rallies in several towns and cities of the province in protest against remarks of Pakistan Tehrik-i-Insaf chief Imran Khan against MQM chief Altaf Hussain.

They burnt Imran Khan’s effigies and said that he had insulted feelings of MQM's followers.

In Hyderabad, a large number of MQM workers brought out a rally on the Miran Mohammad Shah Road, which was addressed by MQM's zonal organiser Siraj Rajput, MNA Pervez Qureshi, MPAs Naeem Ishtiaq and Aslam Pervez.

The party’s zonal organiser Siraj Rajput described Imran Khan as a man of loose character who fathered an illegitimate child. People were talking about deweaponisation campaign in the province despite the fact that arms and ammunition were manufactured and smuggled from the NWFP where MMA was in power, he said.

He said that anti-MQM forces were irked by the popularity of MQM and condemned utterances of MMA president Qazi Hussain Ahmed against governor Sindh Dr Ishratul Ibad Khan.

MNA Pervez Qureshi termed Imran Khan a dictator of Pakistan cricket team and said that National Assembly would be moved for his disqualification.

MPAs Aslam Pervez and Naeem Ishtiaq also criticised Khan's utterances and said that opposition parties had hatched a conspiracy on May 12 after failed to beat MQM in Karachi and Hyderabad in elections.

TANDO ALLAHYAR: MQM activists led by zonal incharge Khushi Mohammad Mughal, Rasheed Bhaya and other party leaders brought out a rally at midnight on Friday and staged a demonstration outside the press club.

KHAIRPUR: MQM supporters and workers led by Nadeem Soomro staged a procession, which raised slogans against PTI chief and condemned his statements against MQM chief.

The protesters were carrying placards inscribed with slogans against Imran Khan. Hussain Bux Solangi, adviser to chief minister also participated in the procession.

DADU: More than 200 MQM activists staged a rally in protest against remarks of PTI chief Imran Khan against Altaf Hussain. They were led by MQM leader Babar Hussain.

BADIN: MWM workers staged a rally in protest against what they called use of derogatory language by PTI chief. Led by Mir Lakhy, district zonal incharge, the activists marched on different roads of the city.

NAWABSHAH: MQM activists staged a rally and a demonstration against PTI chief. The rally started from the Market Chowk and after passing through different roads terminated at the press club.

The leaders condemned the statement of Imran Khan against MQM Chief and said that Imran Khan was a playboy and felt no shame for hurting feelings of millions of MQM supporters.

MIRPURKHAS: A large number of MQM activists and supporters, including women, staged a rally also participated by provincial excise and taxation minister Shabbir Kaimkhani, district naib nazim Dr Zafar Kamali and taluka nazim Ghulam Dastagir.

The rally ended at the press club. The speakers said Imran had no political and social status.
