Robin grabs junior golf title

By Our Sports Correspondent

LAHORE, May 26: Robin Bagh won the Punjab Junior under-21 golf championship with aggregate 148 at Lahore Gymkhana course on Saturday.

Besides the under-21, the competition for under-17 was also held, which was won by Irfan Maqbool.

A brilliant final round of gross 72 by Robin Bagh helped him to win the event as right on his heel Faisal Hanif and Danyaal Jehangir posed a constant pressure on him. Lanky Robin, 18, played with the perfect rhythm to get the full weight behind the ball.

Robin had played the first round of four-over-76, and was behind to Faisal when the second day was started. But Robin posted a card of par-72 on second day which enabled him to grab the winning slot.

He grabbed three birdies on holes 6th, 8th and 15th. On 13 other holes he was at par.

In U-17, Irfan Maqbool was the top performer with identical score of three-over-75 on each day. He demonstrated enough perfection to cast a spell amongst his own competitors. Salman Jehangir remained runner-up.

Under -21 results:

148 — Robin Bagh 76,72.

149 — Faisal Hanif 73,76.

151 — Danyaal Jehangir 76,75;

152 — Mohammad Rehman 78, 74.

155 — Raheel Akbar 76,79.
