NEW YOR, May 26: The Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ) on Friday asked the Pakistan government to take note of recent threats made to journalists and `actively seek out and bring to justice those who have made such threats’.

In a statement, the New York-based watchdog expressed concern over a `list’ issued by the

Mohajir Rabita Council (MRC) identifying 12 journalists as `enemies’.

The CPJ said Syed Huma Ali, the president of the Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists, received threatening phone calls from an unnamed caller as he was preparing to board a plane for a meeting of the International Federation of Journalists in Moscow. "Threats against journalists are mounting in Pakistan and the government must take immediate steps not only to protect journalists, but to actively seek out and bring to justice those that would harm them," said Bob Dietz, the CPJ's Asia programme coordinator.
