I will lodge murder case against Altaf in UK: Imran Khan Hyderabad, May 27 (PPI) - Tahreek Insaf Chief Imran Khan has said that he would proceed to London on 9 June 2007 and lodge a case of murder of 45 persons against Altaf Hussain, “on whose orders innocent people were killed in Karachi on 12 May, 2007”. He was addressing via telephone from Lahore to an All Parties Conference, organized here on Sunday by Sindh Taraqi Pasand Party. The moot was attended by provincial heads of many opposition political parties including PPP-P, PML-N, ANP, PKMAP, Balochistan National Party, Sindh National Front, MMA and others. Imran Khan charged Altaf and his mafia had held people of Karachi hostage and they needed freedom them from this captivity. He claimed that the policemen who had taken part in operation against MQM during Nawaz Sharif and Benazir tenures were killed by MQM with backing of rulers. He also said that present junta was more loyal to Altaf and MQM than to Pakistan and its people. He called present rulers a security risk and asked the nation to get rid of them. Imran Khan not allowed to leave for Karachi, confined to Lahore for three days Lahore, May 27 (PPI) Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan, who was to leave for Karachi on Sunday to offer condolence for those killed in May 12 carnage, was restricted to Lahore limits for three days by the Punjab government. Punjab Home Department issued an order that Imran Khan could not move out of limits of Lahore. Such an order was issued on the request of Sindh government, which last night had banned the entry of Imran Khan in the province for a month. Imran Khan however refused to receive the copy of Punjab Home Department order terming it illegal and unjustified. The PTI chief had left his residence for Lahore airport to depart for the Karachi as per schedule, however he was again stopped there. Imran Khan was also to visit Hyderabad and attend All Party Conference called by Sindh Taraqi Pasand Party. STPP chief Dr. Qadir Magsi had announced that they would escort Imran Khan to Hyderabad. Durrani, Azeem urge SC to take notice of violations ISLAMABAD, May 27 (APP) - Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Senator Muhammad Ali Durrani Sunday requested the Supreme Court (SC) to take notice of the violation of its instructions during the Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) Seminar held in the Auditorium of Supreme Court of Pakistan on Saturday. “During the seminar, the Supreme Court instructions were badly violated. The SC building was used for political objectives and derogatory language was used against various constitutional institutions and even against former judges of the superior judiciary,” he said. Nine killed in fresh Sri Lanka violence COLOMBO, May 27, (AFP) - Suspected Tamil Tiger rebels set off a road side bomb in eastern Sri Lanka Sunday, killing three civilians as six more people were killed in separate clashes, police said. Palestinian factions hold truce talks in Egypt CAIRO, May 27, (AFP) - Egyptian officials met members of the secular Fatah faction of Palestinian president Mahmud Abbas on Sunday, the first in a series of talks with rival factions aimed at cementing a fragile truce in Gaza, the official MENA agency reported. “The talks with the Palestinian faction leaders began formally today on Sunday in Cairo with representatives of the Fatah party,” MENA quoted an “informed source” as saying. Cricket: ICC Chief Percy Sonn dies LEEDS, England, May 27, (AFP) - International Cricket Council (ICC) President Percy Sonn has died aged 57 the governing body announced in a statement from its Dubai headquarters on Sunday. Sonn had spent several days in a Cape Town hospital following complications after undergoing a minor colon operation. He was the first African to head up the ICC but his death leaves the organisation without an obvious successor after England's David Morgan and India's Sharad Pawar tied in a recent vote to replace him. 47 illegal Pakistanis immigrants held for entering Iran DALBANDIN May 27 (APP) - Iran border security forces arrested 47 Pakistanis for crossing illegally the border and handed over them to Taftan Levies Force on Sunday, the Levies sources said. Cricket: Indian police probe death threat against Dravid and Dhoni NEW DELHI, May 27, 2007 (AFP) - Indian police are investigating a letter written by Maoist rebels threatening to kill cricketers Rahul Dravid and Mahendra Dhoni, a newspaper reported Sunday. Eleven dead, 16 hurt in China restaurant fire BEIJING, May 27 (APP/AFP): A blaze at a restaurant in northeast China's Chaoyang city killed 11 people and injured 16, state media reported Sunday. The fire, believed to have started in the kitchen, erupted early Saturday evening and took more than an hour to extinguish, Xinhua news agency said. Israeli dies in Gaza rocket strike JERUSALEM, May 27, 2007 (AFP) - An Israeli civilian died on Sunday after being critically wounded in the southern town of Sderot by a rocket fired by Palestinian militants in Gaza, medics and police said. The man, who police said was in his mid 30s, died of his wounds in hospital after the rocket crashed in the town that has borne the brunt of projectiles fired from the lawless territory. U.N. peacekeeper in Darfur killed KHARTOUM, Sudan, May 27 (AP) - A United Nations peacekeeper in Darfur was shot to death at his residence _ marking the U.N.'s first casualty, officials said. Gunmen shot the Egyptian lieutenant colonel in El Fasher, the capital of North Darfur state, and looted his home late Friday, the African Union and U.N. said Saturday. Hamas says it will not consider truce with Israel after new airstrikes kill 5 militants GAZA CITY, Gaza Strip, May 27 (AP) - Hamas hardened its stance after a new barrage of Israeli airstrikes killed five militants, saying it would not consider a truce and calling for more attacks on Israel .It also warned Israel Saturday that if it continued its 10-day air assault, it would threaten the release of Cpl. Gilad Shalit, the Israeli soldier nabbed last June by Hamas-linked militants. Meanwhile, Israel said some 225 rockets have landed in Israeli towns since May 15, killing one woman and sending thousands of frightened Israeli residents fleeing. Two rockets landed in Israel on Saturday, including a direct hit on a home in Sderot. No one was injured. In all, Israeli aircraft launched 14 missile strikes Saturday. There was also a rare incident of violence in East Jerusalem late Saturday when two Palestinian gunmen opened fire at an Israeli security patrol near the separation barrier Israel is erecting along Jerusalem's municipal boundary. More Japanese universities close campuses as measles outbreak spreads TOKYO, May 27 (AP) - A widening outbreak of measles among college students mostly in the Tokyo area forced another Japanese university to close one of its campuses on Sunday to control the spread of the virus. About a dozen universities in the Tokyo area, together with a handful of other schools around the country, have suspended classes since mid-April because of measles outbreaks, according to media reports. Sri Lankan sailors kill three separatist rebels in the east, military says COLOMBO, May 27 (AP) – Sri Lanka Navy killed three suspected separatist Tamil Tiger rebels during a ground operation in a jungle area north of the port town of Trincomalee in eastern Sri Lanka on Sunday, military said.
