MIRAMSHAH, June 6: The local Taliban warned the government on Wednesday that they would not allow construction of checkpoints of the Khasadar Force and a college for girls in North Waziristan till the seminaries and mosques damaged during military operations in the area were rebuilt.

Local Taliban commander Maulvi Abdul Khaliq Haqani told Dawn on phone that members of the Taliban Shura at a meeting held in the agency expressed anger over destruction of mosques and seminaries by security forces.

“We will not allow any development activity, including construction of Khasadar checkpoints and the girls’ college in the area,” Mr Haqani said.
