ISLAMABAD June 12: A grand jirga of all tribal legislators, elders, engineers, doctors, and tribal representatives from civil society is being held at Peshawar on June 14.

Senator Hameedullah Jan Afridi, convener of the gathering, told Dawn that the jirga would discuss and chalk out strategy either to launch a movement or to make a formal demand from the federal government to give autonomy to tribal areas and allow elected council on pattern of Northern Areas.

He said the jirga would be free to take decision to launch a mass movement for regaining their constitutional and legal rights.
