QUETTA, June 18: Advocate Amir Rana, nephew of Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry, has lodged an FIR against a brigadier and 15 unnamed people for barging into his house and harassing his family.

The Bijli Road police station registered the FIR on a written complaint on Monday.

Mr Rana, in his complaint, narrated the details of the incident which took place at his house in Defence Housing Scheme on Saturday night and nominated Brig Zulfiqar who, he alleged, used to threaten him on phone. He said the brigadier had told him that he belonged to the Military Intelligence.

The complainant said his mother had told him that the armed man who stormed his home after breaking the main door and grille of the boundary wall were receiving instructions for searching the house from someone they were calling ‘sir’.

Advocate Rana said one Maj Babar of the Military Intelligence had come to his home on Monday, taken his statement and assured him that action would be taken against those involved in the incident. He said the major had gone round the house and seen the broken door and grille.

He said his mother, wife and other family members were still in a state of shock as they had been treated harshly by the armed men. He said his mother had also suffered internal injuries because the armed men had violently pushed her towards a wall.

Mr Rana said he had informed the chief justice who had expressed deep concern but advised him to face the situation with courage. “We are ready to face such third-degree methods,” Mr Rana said.
