QUETTA, June 24: Border security authorities on Sunday arrested five foreign suspected terrorists in Taftan, a small town near the Pak-Iran border.

“They are all Uzbek nationals and entered Pakistan illegally,” an official of Levies told Dawn by telephone from Taftan.

The five Uzbek nationals crossed into Pakistan from Iran, using infrequent route and had no legal travelling documents, the official said.

“We booked them under the Foreigners’ Act,” the official said.

The source said the arrested men had been handed over to authorities concerned for further interrogation to ascertain real motives behind their entry to Pakistan.

“Their ages range between 15 and 24,” the official said. They have been identified as Saeed Harar, Mahir Din, Fayyaz-uddin, Abdul Rahim and Abdul Wasay.
