Lawyers’ struggle to continue: Kurd

By A Reporter

RAWALPINDI, July 25: The ongoing struggle of the lawyers will not water down after the reinstatement of Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry, rather it will go on till the country’s affairs are completely demilitarised.

This was stated by Ali Ahmed Kurd advocate of the Pakistan Bar Council (PBC) while speaking at a gathering of lawyers at the District Bar Association (DBA), Rawalpindi, on Wednesday. Describing different incidents of their four-month-long struggle, he said the chief justice’s reinstatement was the demand of the common people, adding that during military rule, the wishes of the masses were suppressed and they were not consulted in crucial national decisions.

He appreciated the courage of the chief justice as he did not succumb to the military pressure and resolved to fight for his case.

Mr Kurd said the CJP’s courage gave birth to unity and audacity of lawyers. Despite all efforts the government has failed to create a rift among the lawyers’ community.
