QUETTA, Aug 7: Law-enforcement personnel arrested on Tuesday 14 Taliban suspects, 10 of them Tajik and Uzbek nationals, from Sambaza village in the Zhob district, near the Pakistan-Afghan border.
Illegal weapons and high explosives were seized from the arrested men, an official of the Zhob administration told Dawn. The suspects were handed over to the authorities concerned for interrogation.
The official said that two pick-ups carrying 14 people were intercepted by the personnel of the Frontier Corps when they entered the Zhob area from South Waziristan through Wana.
The FC personnel found 10 AK-47 rifles and a huge quantity of high explosives in the vehicles and arrested the 14 — five Uzbeks, five Tajiks, an Afghan national and three Pakistanis. They were fighting against army and para-military forces, sources said.
