ISLAMABAD and Rawalpindi were put on high alert and heavy contingents of law enforcement agencies deployed in the twin cities at midnight amid speculations over the imposition of emergency.

A source said police pickets had been set up at all exit and entry points.

All security personnel belonging to the police, special branches and intelligence agencies were put on stand-by.
