QUETTA, Aug 16: A mob attacked a police station in the Musakhel township, some 364 kilometres northeast of here, on Thursday and freed two suspected Taliban. The assailants also injured two policemen.

Local administration called out paramilitary troops after riots erupted in the remote township. According to official sources, the two detained people had come from North Waziristan and were staying in a mosque. They were brought to the police station but a large number of people gathered outside and started protesting against the arrest. When police tried to disperse them, the protesters stormed into the police station and opened fire, the sources added.

Two policemen, Toor Khan and Nasibullah, suffered bullet injuries and were taken to the Civil Hospital in Loralai.

District nazim Sardar Asmatullah Musakhel said the mob pelted vehicles and government buildings with stones.
