RAWALPINDI, Aug 30: An anti terrorism court (ATC) on Thursday granted bail to Tayyaba Dua, daughter of Maulana Abdul Aziz, the former chief cleric of Lal Masjid, in the murder case of a Rangers’ personnel against surety bonds of Rs100,000.

Humaira Ghazi, wife of Maulana Abdul Rasheed Ghazi, was also awarded pre-arrest bail in the case against the surety bonds of Rs50,000.

ATC-1 Judge Habibur Rehman ordered release of Ms Dua if she was not wanted in any other criminal case.

She was awarded bail by the judge on August 27, but her lawyer withdrew the bail application saying that she had already been granted bail with her sister Asma Dua.

The pre-arrest bail of Humaira Ghazi was moved after the police included her name in the investigations relating to the murder case on July 3.

Her lawyer Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui argued before the court that at the time of the murder she was living with her parents because she was pregnant.

Meanwhile the bail applications of Maulana Abdul Aziz, in 12 different cases, were admitted by a magistrate in Islamabad who will take them up for hearing on September 5.

Ten of these cases were registered with the Abpara police station in the first three months of this year while two cases had been registered in 2004.
