LAHORE, Aug 30: The Model Town SP (investigation) on Thursday ordered suspension of two policemen for illegally detaining a journalist and his brother at police station.

Reports said a police team, led by Ichhra SHO Mansab Ali, raided the house of Imran Shafqat of an Urdu daily for the arrest of his brother-in-law Wajahat. According to the police, Wajahat is a proclaimed offender.

Imran told the SHO that Wajahat lived in Toba Tek Singh, but the police took the journalist and his brother Syed Ibadur Rehman into custody.

Later, journalists held a demonstration outside the police station.

After receiving information, Model Town SP (investigation) Azmatullah Gondal reached the spot and ordered suspension of moharrar Fiaz and a constable. The SP also ordered an inquiry against the Ichhra SHO. — Staff Reporter
