ISLAMABAD, Nov 7: Supreme Court judges removed for refusing to accept the emergency rule and confined to their houses are suffering not alone. Police guarding the house of Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry on Wednesday did not allow his daughter to leave the house for appearing in her A-level exams, according to family friends.

Her pleas with the police having failed, Ifra Iftikhar turned to the British Council for help which conducts the exams. The council could not free her from the confinement but offered to take the exam in the house.

That saved the academic career and the day for Ms Ifra. But her younger brother Balaj is not so fortunate. Seven-year-old Balaj is a special child and needs constant medical attention which the confinement of his father has denied him.

Similarly, Justice Javed Iqbal also needs medical attention because of his heart condition.

Government authorities provided him medical help on Monday on the intervention of Justice Rana Bhagwandas. But he needs regular attention as he lives alone and his family is in Quetta.

Meanwhile, Justice Iftikhar’s personal security guard Mr Abbas, whom he had brought from his hometown Quetta, has reportedly been arrested by the police. However, the report could not be confirmed.
