EU office denies FO statement

ISLAMABAD, Nov 7: The heads of mission of the European Union in Islamabad have expressed their surprise over the statement of president’s spokesmen and the Foreign Office that during General Musharraf’s meeting with diplomats on Monday they “supported the president’s reasons for imposing emergency.”

Clarifying their position and stand, the EU in a rare statement issued by the local EU office on Wednesday said that what Foreign Secretary Riaz Ahmad Khan told reporters after envoys’ meeting with General Musharraf “did not reflect what really happened during the briefings.”
