SYDNEY, Nov 12: Australian speedster Brett Lee has signed a deal to produce and perform theme song for the 2011 ICC World Cup which will be co-hosted by India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh.

Lee, who has not yet played a Test in India, said he was looking forward to the quadrennial mega event.

“Music is a great passion of mine, apart from cricket, and to be able to produce a song for such a big occasion – particularly given it’s in the Subcontinent, a place that I love – only adds to excitement.

“People in that part of the world have such a passion for cricket and music. I’m sure the (2011) World Cup in the Subcontinent is going to be a great event,” he added.

The deal will make the tearaway fast bowler one of the highest-selling musicians from Down Under along with pop star Kylie Minogue.

Lee, known as ‘Binga’ among team-mates, is passionate about music. He plays bass guitar for a band called ‘Six and Out’ which he runs along with his brother Shane.

He teamed up with famous Bollywood star Asha Bhosle during the ICC Champions Trophy last year to record duet “You’re The One For Me” which became a hit in India and South Africa. –Agencies
