BADIN, Nov 15: A resident of Matli town and Human Welfare Organisation (HWO) activist, Shabbir Ahmed Kashmiri, staged sit-in outside the press club here on Thursday against the Matli police.

He told journalists that his organisation staged rallies against police for deteriorating law and order situation, which enraged the police, who were now harassing him and his family. He said he had been compelled to leave his house after that.

Mr Shabbir said the police were also threatening him to implicate him in false cases.

He appealed to the government and other human rights organisations to protect him from police atrocities.

SUSPENDED: The additional district officer (education) Badin has suspended five primary school teachers from their services on account of absence from their duties.

Those suspended were Aurangzeb, Mohammad Ashraf, Mohammad Qasim, Qadir Bux and Ahmed.
