HYDERABAD, Nov 20: Dr Rashid Mehmood from the Institute of Advanced Telecommunications University of Swansea, UK, has said that in this age of computer, modelling and simulation are indispensable tools in science and technology for the promotion of higher education and research.

He was delivering his presidential address at a one-day seminar on “Computational Stochastic Modelling Solution and Applications” organised by the department of Basic Science and Related Studies, Mehran University of Engineering and Technology, at Jamshoro campus on Tuesday.

The seminar was largely attended by faculty members, directors of various institutes, chairmen of different departments and officers.

He said by using these techniques we can analyse and predict scientific system and added that it could also help future forecast not only in the coming weeks but also of the next year and even decade.

He said computational stochastic modelling can also be applied in medial and telecommunication fields.

TRAINNING: Project Implementation Assistance Consultants (PIAC) in collaboration with Sindh Irrigation and Drainage Authority (Sida) conducted a training programme on “Project Cycle Management and Monitoring and Evaluation.”

The training programme was held under the aegis of Sindh Onfarm Water Management Project (SOFWMP).

The staff of Social Mobilisation Group (SMG), Sida, PIA consultants and farmers attended the training programme.
