HYDERABAD, Dec 4: The students and faculty members of the Institute of Art and Design, University of Sindh, have urged the government to declare the Mukhi House an art museum and make efforts for preservation of historical heritage of the country.

They were giving a briefing to Vice-Chancellor Mazharul Haq Siddiqui on documentation of the historical sites including Hyderabad forts, Mukhi House and the tombs of Talpurs during his inspection of the semester examinations at the institute on Tuesday.

The students of the institute have developed 11 projects and documented different historical sites including Mukhi House as part of their theses in final year.

A student Khalid Soomro has developed a project on Mukhi House while others Fayaz, Ms Samreen Khilji, Ms Sabeen were associated with different projects.

The students and faculty members on this occasion also requested the vice chancellor to take up the matter before the high-ups of the government for declaring Mukhi house as an Art Museum.

All 11 projects developed by final year students would be displayed in the art and craft examination which is scheduled to be held on Dec 13.

The vice-chancellor while appreciating efforts of the students promised that the matter would be brought to the notice of higher authorities.

The vice chancellor also visited Institute of Business Administration, Department of International Relations, Department of Economics and others to oversee ongoing semester examinations.

The registrar of the university, M. Saleh Rajar, accompanied with him.
