CHITRAL, Dec 6: Workers of the Pakistan People’s Party have decided to field a consensus candidate after rejecting the nominee of the party chairperson.

A reconciliatory committee, comprising nazims of 16 union councils, recommended the name of Wing Commander (retd) Fardad Ali Shah for the party ticket for NA-32.

Earlier, Shahzada Ghulam Mohyuddin had been nominated by the party chairperson to run as the favoured candidate. But the decision was overwhelmingly rejected by the party workers.

Instead, they nominated Fardad Ali Shah and Mohammad Hakim to run as party candidates.

Addressing a press conference here on Thursday, committee’s chief district Naib Nazim Sultan Shah said that the committee had decided that Fardad Ali Shah would run as the party candidate. The PPP leader said the two nominees had vowed to abide by the decision of the committee.

He said that a delegation would call on the party chairperson to apprise her about the decision of the workers. He said that a wrong decision at this stage could have spelt disaster for the party.
