WASHINGTON, Dec 6: US Assistant Secretary of State Richard Boucher told a congressional panel on Thursday that the United States wished to continue its training programmes for the Pakistani military despite the recent developments.
In a testimony before a panel of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, Mr Boucher also expressed concerns about the curbs placed on the media and judiciary saying that such restrictions could have an impact on the forthcoming elections as well.
“We are continuing long-term training and playing catch-up too,” he added.—BoC
