PARACHINAR, Dec 17: Five people, including a security officer, were injured and several houses were set on fire in fresh clashes here on Monday.

Sources said that troops opened fire to disperse a mob that was attacking public and private property in the area.

The mob set ablaze shops and a government-run health facility. The security officer and two civilians suffered bullet injuries in a cross-fire.The injured were taken to the agency headquarters hospital.

The sources said the fighting started in a troubled area when a grenade was hurled at a house, wounding two people.

The attack infuriated some people who besieged homes of some members of the rival group. The clashes have again created tension in the Kurram Agency and armed tribesmen have taken positions in the area.
