HYDERABAD, Dec 25: Azad Magsi Ittehad and PML-Q on Tuesday took out a rally comprising hundreds of vehicles in Tando Allahyar for bagging support for their candidates in elections.

Observers termed the rally a show of strength and political clout by the Magsi family.

Speaking at a gathering at Shalimar Garden, candidate for NA-223 seat, Ms Adeeba Gul Magsi, said the Magsi family had launched numerous development projects in Tando Allahyar of millions of rupees and laid a network of roads, established a number of schools and health centres in the district and provided jobs to hundreds of jobless youths.

She said that because of development schemes undertaken by her sister, Dr Rahila Gul Magsi, the district nazim, their opponents had become jealous and were spreading baseless rumours. She said, January 8 polls would provide a befitting answer to their opponents.

It was for the first time that the district government had electrified scores of villages and provided gas to thousands of people, she said.

Speaking on the occasion, candidate for PS-51 seat, Mir Mohammad Ghulam alias Mir Pappu, said that he had remained with PPP for many years but this party had never respected sincere and committed workers and that was the reason that he had left PPP.

He claimed the PPP had no clear programme for the welfare of people and had now been fully exposed before the masses.

The people are only interested in welfare schemes and they will reject the PPP candidates on January 8, he said.

Former Sindh revenue minister and candidate for PS-52 seat, Dr Irfan Gul Magsi said that the PPP had played all its cards and the presence of thousands of people in this rally was a proof of the fact that the people of Tando Allahyar will support the candidates of Azad Magsi Ittehad and PML-Q.

He said that they had fired only a first missile today and will fire more before January 8. The rally started from Tando Allahyar and terminated at Chambar.
