Disease Prevention programme

LAHORE, Dec 25: Punjab caretaker health minister Aslam Hamayun has directed the health department to launch a comprehensive campaign against communicable and non-communicable diseases, especially in rural areas.

He said on Tuesday that resources had been provided to the department to accelerate the efforts to achieve the millennium development goals (MDGs).

The minister said the department’s prime focus was on strengthening of the primary healthcare and disease preventive programme.

He also directed the officers concerned to ensure the early completion of civil work at basic health units and rural health centers.

Mr Hamayun also ordered early provision of gas and generators to the tehsil headquarters hospitals in Hasanabdal.

The minister also urged doctors to maintain highest standard of honesty, integrity and serve the ailing humanity with full devotion.
