RAJANPUR/MUZAFFARGARH, Jan 6: Twenty people were killed in two separate road accidents in Rajanpur and Muzaffargarh districts on Sunday.

In the first accident, as many as 12 people were killed and 13 sustained injuries when a Karachi-bound bus ran into a stationary trailer on the Indus Highway near Makhdoom Morr. The bus was coming from Peshawar.

Police said the accident took place early morning due to poor visibility and over speeding.

Ten of the dead were identified as Rahmatullah, Iqbal Hussain, Wakeel Khan, Ahmed Khan, Mumtaz Khan, Rashid, Bakhat Zaman, Gulzar Ahmed, Muhammad Abu Bakar (a minor), Hadayat Naz. Most of the injured were shifted to Sheikh Zayed Hospital, Rahim Yar Khan.

In the second accident, eight passengers died and 23 were injured when a mini-bus collided with a truck near Taunsa Morr, Kot Addu. The bus was on way to Layyah from Multan.

Sixteen of the injured were shifted to Nishtar Hospital, Multan, because of their serious condition. The name of the dead could not be confirmed.

The condition of Kot Addu-layyah road is very poor and accidents occur frequently.
