KARACHI, Jan 10: The National Rifle Association of Pakistan (NRAP) plans holding the third edition of the SAF Shooting Championship in March.

“We are planning to revive this regional competition after a lapse of nearly seven years,” Executive Vice President, NRAP, Razi Ahmed Khan, a qualified official of the International Shooting Federation, said on Thursday.

The event, discontinued due to various reasons, was last staged in Pakistan in 2000. NRAP has been in touch with the Pakistan Sports Board (PSB), Pakistan Sports Trust (PST) and Pakistan Olympic Association (POA) regarding funding, estimated at around rupees seven million, for the event.

Teams from India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Maldives, Afghanistan, Kuwait, Iran and the United Arab Emirates are expected to take part in the championship to be held at Pakistan Navy’s International Shooting Range, which is known to be equipped with all kinds of modern gadgets. Categories and events include the use of pistols, rifles and shotguns along with various other firearms.—APP
